Joe Morgan exited stage left peacefully at home on April 20, 2025, at age 89.
Born in Pineville, WV to Tonnie Garrimore & Sarah Winston Howard Morgan, he attended Greenbrier Military School followed by West Virginia University. After completing Dental School at MCV in Richmond, VA, he served in the U.S. Air Force. He returned to Richmond after his service and put down his roots there. He built a long and respected career as a caring, dedicated dentist.
Joe Morgan was a true Renaissance man…beyond his dentistry, he was a gentleman farmer, a hunter, an artist, a musician, a wood carver, an athlete, a master gardener, a dog lover, a grill master, and a bourbon connoisseur. He never met a person he didn’t like and his warmth, kindness, and good humor in all situations put everyone at ease and made him a delight to know.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Angela Morgan; his children, Stephanie, Gary (Bronwyn), Rebecca, Karen (Mikal); a gaggle of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by his great friend & protector, James.
Spending his last two years comfortable and safe in the home he built and loved was made possible by the incredible team of caregivers that worked tirelessly and with immense love for our dad. Those caregivers are Victoria, Mucie, Vickie, Debbie, and Yvette. It would not have been possible without all of them.
How lucky are we to have such an incredible father. He was a gift to everyone who knew and loved him.
