James H. Rownd

James H. “Jim” Rownd, formerly of Upper Arlington, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Tampa, FL. Jim was born February 15, in Columbus. Ohio. Graduated from Greenbrier Military School, Lewisburg, WV in 1941 and immediately enlisted in the US Army, fought in the South Pacific during WWII where he was injured and spent a year and a half hospitalized in the US. He attended the Ohio State University and received his law degree from Franklin University (now Capital) in Columbus. His law career in Columbus culminated in 2003 when he retired and moved to Tampa after receiving a 50 year recognition from Columbus Bar Foundation in 2002.

He was a member of Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church in Marble Cliff, serving as an usher for 20 years. Past President of Agonis Club in Columbus receiving their Dom Tiberi Service Award in 2002, and Past President of Lawyers Club. He was a member of Blendon Lodge #339 AF&AM; Aladdin Temple Shrine, Reception Unit and Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, former member of Brookside Country Club, and an OSU Lifetime Alumnus.

Preceded in death by his parents; former wife; three sisters; a nephew and a niece, Susan Begley. Survived by his wife of 39 years Karen (McCormick) Rownd; step-son, Richard O..Ferguson and his family of NC; nieces, Carol (Mike) Starn, Columbus and Marilee (John) Peterson, Washington Court House; nephew , J.T. (Lois) Greshel, Okemos, MI.

Services will be held beginning with a Masonic service on November 15, 2013 immediately followed by Funeral Service at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel in Upper Arlington. Interment with Military Honors to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery.
