Edward Blaine Phillips

Edward Blaine Phillips '46, of Lewisburg, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at his home. Born October 26, 1927, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Edward Thomas Philips and Thelma J. Williams Phillips.

Ed graduated from Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg and was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He graduated from WVU with an engineering degree and worked briefly for DuPont in Charleston, WV, before returning to Lewisburg to work with Capital Finance. Then in 1963, he became owner of the Greenbrier Insurance Agency and in 1971, he bought Stuart and Watts Real Estate. He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge and served on the original Greenbrier County Planning Commission.

He was married to Marion Collins and is survived by their two children, Edward Blaine Phillips II and wife Barbara, of Lewisburg and Marilyn Fraser and husband , Simon, of Hilton Head , SC; four grandchildren , Erica Brown of Lewisburg, Andrew Fraser of Nashville, TN, Alex Fraser of Washington, DC and Ben Fraser of Savannah, GA; and one great grandson, Landon Brown. He was later married to Andrea McClung McCall.
