Dr. Darryl Howard Rogers Obituary

WA - Dr. Darryl Howard Rogers, 83, died peacefully at home on Saturday, July 12th. Darryl was born to Velma Currier Rogers and William Rogers II of Carrollton, Ohio. After graduating from Greenbrier Military School, Darryl did his undergraduate work at Case Western Reserve before getting his Doctorate in Dentistry at The Ohio State University.

Darryl spent two years in the army, working as a dentist in Maryland. He moved to the greater Seattle area with his first wife, Lana, where he established a dental practice in Richmond Beach with his friend, Dr. Roger Hansen. Darryl and Lana were blessed with two children, Bryan and Carolyn.

Darryl retired from dentistry in 1997 to fight life-threatening bladder cancer. Following surgery and chemotherapy, Darryl lived cancer-free until 2025.

In 1998, Darryl met Julie Moe on a blind date, and they spent the next 26+ years together. Darryl & Julie married (finally!) in October of 2018. Darryl was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, but the slow progression of symptoms allowed him to enjoy many more years of travel, sushi, and music adventures.

Darryl was a loving, generous man, and treated all with kindness and respect. His high standards and eye for detail paired well with his passion for dentistry, art, and music. Darryl's wit and contagious laugh inspired joy in all of us.

Darryl was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bryan Darryl Rogers. He is survived by his wife Julie, daughter Carolyn McAlister (Ian), grandchildren Jaks and Maddy McAlister, siblings William Rogers III (Heidi), Bonnie Thomas (Harold), Beverly Rogers, and many more dear relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6th at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, located at 13047 Greenwood Ave N in Seattle. Additional parking will be available at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 102 N. 132nd St.
