Raymond George

Raymond " Ray" George, 84, of Charleston WV and Allentown, died on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Phoebe Home in Allentown, PA. Born in Huntington WV, he was the son of the late Sam and Helen (Tweel) George. He is survived by his wife Kelly (Light) George.

Ray was an entrepreneur with interests in the Daniel Boone Hotel of Charleston, WV, Sperry Rand of Columbus, OH and as a manufacturer's representative for many international companies in New York City. He was a member of the Huntington High School class of 1948. He attended the Greenbrier Military School and was a 1952 graduate of Marshall College (University) in Huntington WV. Ray served his country honorably as an Active Duty Officer and as a member of the West Virginia Army National Guard. He retired from the National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1975 after 23 years of service.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Kelly of Charleston WV; his sons Vincent and his wife Martha of Tallahassee, FL, Victor and his wife Stephanie of Palos Verdes CA, and his son Von and his wife Jane of Allentown, PA; daughters Valerie Ellis and her husband Gary and Vanessa George, all of Charleston WV; brother Louis George of Hilton Head, SC; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated September 19, 2015 at Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1114 Virginia Street, Charleston, WV.
